Nail Boo At-Home DIY Mani

I’ve been waiting for something like this ever since seeing the movie The Fifth Element where a receptionist inserts one finger at a time into a contraption that delivers an instant, perfectly manicured fingernail. This does not quite deliver that result, but for those who are skilled at applying polish to both hands, this is a gamechanger.

Nailboo provides both build powder and necessary activator fluids individually at Nailboo.com or through Amazon, as well as a full kit that includes remover fluid and remover tray.

The array of color dip powders available is staggering and includes the staple colors like red in various hues and they’ll doubtless continue adding to available options.
I am NOT ambidextrous and so my experience was not entirely satisfying. It takes a while as the recommended application process is to do one finger at a time. Overall, however, it would save time and money … with the caveat that you’ve got to be good at applying color to your nails while “remaining within the lines” … something I simply cannot do!

Straight on … without glasses or good eyes … and from a (great) distance the result wasn’t terrible, but the closer you get, the more detail (or lack thereof) becomes evident … every flaw distressingly observable.

Preventing product from
getting on your cuticles is
tough (for me, impossible!)

Come closer yet my friend, to see the thickness and lumpiness.

It’s hard to keep the layers thin. Certainly, easier over time, it is really dependent on your ability to paint evenly and smoothly.

I’m right-handed and did the nails on my left hand and still had issues, mainly because even with just polish I’m no good at getting the edges of my nails without coloring outside the lines!

FUNCTIONALITY

Once applied (and happy with your result) these doubtless lasts a long time, longer than traditional gel, solar or dip proudcts. Mine got pretty thick and one recommendation to the makers of Nailboo is to enlarge the container so you don’t have to angle your fingers in for full coverage.

It otherwise functions great as an alternative or replacement to traditional spa manicures (with the same caveat, you’ve got to be able to paint your non-dominant hand.

There’s no question that IF you’re capable of painting your nails with a good result, that this product will be a thrill for you. Nailboo says you’ll enjoy a chip-free manicure for weeks – probably dependent on how quickly your nails grow to reveal gaps at your cuticle.

The result was awesomely hard, but not brittle – too thick (obvi) but again, with time and practice comes perfection. I just don’t have that kind of time to perfect my skill set (and probably would never get to the point where I can produce the results of a manicurist).

So … mixed review: it all depends on you!
